The defining characteristic of our handloom sarees is the lustrous gold and silver zari. These fine metallic threads are susceptible to oxidation if exposed to harsh environmental factors. To maintain their intrinsic lustre, avoid direct contact with perfumes, deodorants, and chemical sprays. Allow any fragrances or lotions to dry completely before draping the saree.

Always store your Nilouri saree in the breathable, unbleached muslin bag provided with your purchase. Strictly avoid plastic covers or vacuum-sealed bags, as they trap moisture and accelerate tarnishing of the metallic zari. Keep the textile in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and periodically unfold and refold the saree to prevent permanent creasing along the metallic threads.

Dry clean only, and always with a specialist experienced in handling fine zari work. Never machine wash or soak the saree. For an accidental spot, gently dab — never rub — with a clean, dry cloth and consult your dry cleaner promptly. Mention the gold zari so the appropriate, gentle process is used.

Handle the saree with clean, dry hands. Be mindful of jewellery, watches, and embellishments that may snag the delicate threads. When draping, avoid dragging the pallu across rough surfaces. With gentle handling, each piece is designed to be worn and treasured for generations.

If pressing is required, iron on the reverse side at a low temperature, placing a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the fabric. Never apply a hot iron directly onto the zari, as the heat can dull or distort the metallic work.
